Carrot Fertility

For five and a half years (2016-2022), I served as a co-founder and product designer at Carrot Fertility. In that time, Carrot grew from 3 people to 350. We went from serving 10s of members to 100,000s. We raised over one hundred million dollars.

I’m proudest of helping many great companies make their workplaces more inclusive.

My time at Carrot involved wearing quite a few hats. Initially, I was a hybrid designer and engineer, mainly focusing on designing and coding the first version of our React app.

Later, I focused more on product and brand design. Jumping between teams taught me that my forte is bridging gaps between teams. In the process, I stood up our first design system.

In my final two years at Carrot, I helped build the product design, product management, brand design, and engineering teams. This involved individual contributor and leadership roles on those teams.

Looking back, I was lucky to find such a great group of people to work with. Given our mission was focused on helping others, we attracted a diverse yet like-minded, creative crowd.

I ultimately left Carrot to give myself a chance to rest after five years of massive change in my professional and personal lives (married, buying a house, having a kid). I learned so much, some of which I wrote a blog post. I felt comfortable stepping away, given that we’d hired a solid leadership team (C-suite and VPs) and since each group had enough redundancy and structure.
